There are several reasons why you may be having trouble connecting to NordVPN on your Windows device. These include issues with your account status, network settings, or app configuration. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot.
- Make sure your NordVPN account is active.
- Check if you’re using the latest NordVPN application version.
- To do so, open the app, click on Settings (the gear icon at the bottom) and you’ll see the app version at the top, right below the Settings headline.
- If you are using the older version, uninstall the VPN app and download the latest NordVPN version for Windows.
- Change the VPN protocol to Auto and try to Quick connect.
- To do so, open the app, click on Settings (the gear icon at the bottom), and select Connection – you'll find the option to change the connection protocol at the top of the screen. The connection process may take up to 3 minutes
- If you're still unable to connect, try switching to NordWhisper or OpenVPN UDP/TCP protocols and connecting to Obfuscated servers, which you will find under Speciality servers.
- If that does not help, reset the application:
- Click on the Settings (gear icon) in the bottom left corner.
- Click General.
- Scroll down until you see the Diagnostics section, and click Run diagnostics.
- A new window will open. Select Reset app.
- The issue might lie in the configuration of your Windows OS, its applications, and networks.
After each step, check if the issue remains. In the case that the problems are still there, be sure to reach out to our support team for a quick solution by pressing on either the email or chat button bellow.
