How can we help you?

Proxy setup on Safari

Note: you don't have to set up a proxy if you are already using NordVPN app.

There are steps listed, that will show how to set up a proxy on Safari browser:

1. Open Safari browser by selecting its icon either from dock or launchpad.

2. Now we will have to determine which server to connect to. Go to the https://nordvpn.com/servers/tools/ and select Show advanced options button.

3. Expand Select security protocol field and click on HTTP Proxy. Take a note of the displayed recommended server - we will need it later.

4. Click on Safari button in the status and select Preferences.

5. Click on Advanced tab on the Preferences menu. Then, next to the Proxies, click on the Change Settings... button.

6. On the new window, it will be necessary to choose a protocol to configure. Thus, check the Web Proxy (HTTP) and Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS) boxes.

7. Fill the Web Proxy Server field with the hostname of the server, that had been picked by a tool on NordVPN website before. In our case, it was us1169.nordvpn.com server - we will use it as a reference. Next to it, enter 80 - it is the port number.

8. Check Proxy server requires password box and enter your NordVPN Username and Password in the authentication fields.

9. Make sure you perform the same steps for Secure Web Proxy (HTTPS).

10. Click OK button, then Apply in order to confirm the configuration. You might be prompted for the username and password trying to access the the first website of your browsing session. In this case, provide your NordVPN Username and Password and press OK button.

Your Safari configuration is completed and from now on you can browse anonymously.

In order to check whether the connection was successful, go to NordVPN.com and check if your status is displayed as Protected.
