What is a NordVPN browser extension and why do I need it?

NordVPN extension for ChromeEdge, and Firefox browsers sends your traffic through the proxy server and allows you to have a different IP address that hides your location and identity. Not all websites protect your connection (HTTPS) and encrypt your online traffic. The NordVPN extension will secure your browsing information, and your online presence will not be visible to anyone.

The extension also offers these features:

  • Exclude from VPN (Split Tunneling) allows you to split your traffic through different URLs and domains.
  • Block the WebRTC (a communication protocol that relies on JavaScript), and you can avoid leaking your real IP address.
  • Threat Protection blocks intrusive ads and unsafe websites based on DNS filtering. Make sure you're connected to the NordVPN server for this feature to work.
  • Spoofing allows you to match the time and date of your browser with the server location. This may help to browse sites that are sensitive to timezone changes.
  • Kill switch blocks your browser's internet access if the VPN connection drops.

Note: Currently, the Opera browser does not support the NordVPN Extension.
