How to change your DNS using the NordVPN app

Adding NordVPN DNS servers via the application ensures that they are being used while connected and can decrease the chances of any third-party application interfering.

To manually configure your DNS using the NordVPN application, follow one of the sections below.

 

Changing your DNS on Windows

To configure your DNS on your Windows device, follow these steps:

  1. Go to settings:

  2. Head to the connection tab:

  3. Turn on custom DNS:

  4. Click on the drop-down arrow and input the following DNS addresses:
    103.86.96.100 and 103.86.99.100

  5. Reconnect to the VPN.

You may also change your DNS addresses via Windows settings.

 

Changing your DNS on macOS

To begin changing your DNS on your macOS, follow along below:

  1. Open the NordVPN application.
  2. Click the shield icon:

  3. Make sure that DNS filtering is disabled:

  4. Go to settings:

  5. Open the DNS tab:

  6. Press add new DNS:

  7. Input the 103.86.96.100 address:

  8. Press add new DNS again:

  9. Enter the 103.86.99.100 address:

  10. Turn the feature on:

  11. Reconnect to the VPN.

If you prefer, you can also change your DNS addresses via macOS settings.

 

Changing your DNS on iOS

If you would like to configure your DNS on your iOS device, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the NordVPN application.
  2. Tap Threat Protection:

  3. Disable the feature if it is enabled:

  4. Open the profile tab:

  5. Head to settings:

  6. Tap protocol:

  7. In the DNS section, tap enter custom DNS address:

  8. Enter this address: 103.86.96.100:

  9. Reconnect to the VPN to confirm the change.

You can also change your DNS settings in iOS settings.

 

Changing your DNS on Android

Follow along below to configure your DNS addresses on your Android device:

  1. Open the NordVPN application.
  2. Tap on the shield icon:

  3. Make sure Threat Protection is disabled:

  4. Go to the profile page:

  5. Go to the settings menu:

  6. Tap on the DNS option:

  7. Select custom, enter 103.86.96.100, and tap add:

  8. Reconnect to the VPN to confirm the change.

You may also change your DNS via Android settings.
