Not supported routers

On December 1st 2018, NordVPN’s servers stopped supporting L2TP/IPsec and PPTP connections. You can read more about that on this article: https://nordvpn.com/blog/l2tp-pptp-protocol-update/

With that being said, if you are using any of these routers, you will not be able to use it with our service using its native firmware:

  • Arris
  • Belkin
  • Cisco
  • D-Link
  • Huawei
  • Linksys (except WRT32X/WRT32XB AC3200)
  • Netgear
  • TP-Link
  • TRENDnet
  • Tenda
  • TotoLink
  • Ubee
  • Most ISP provided routers not mentioned above

Some of these models can be flashed to a custom firmware:

DD-WRT: https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices
Tomato: https://tomato.groov.pl/?page_id=69
Padavan: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/List_of_Padavan_firmware_supported_devices
OpenWRT: https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start
Merlin: https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/wiki/Supported-Devices

You may also check here which routers we do recommend.

Your router does support the OpenVPN Client, search our knowledge base for your router manufacturer's name. You should find a tutorial on how to set it up. You can also check our Routers tutorials section under the Connectivity category. If you cannot find the setup guide for your router, contact our customer support for help.

If you want a router that is an out-of-the-box solution for NordVPN provided security and anonymity, you should head over to our partners at FlashRouters. They will provide you with a preconfigured router that will deliver top-notch security and performance.
