Problem
You can’t sign up for the NordVPN app using Nord Account.
Common Symptoms
- Nothing happens after clicking the Create account button in the app, or you receive an error message saying authorization failed.
- Nord Account shows “Error: 429 Too Many Requests” or “Something went wrong.”
- The “Continue” button on the browser doesn’t do anything.
Troubleshooting steps
NOTE: If you are not able to sign up for the NordVPN app and you are from a country or a network with VPN usage restrictions, follow this guide.
- Close all Nord Account tabs and try to sign up again using the NordVPN app.
- Change your device’s default browser to a different one.
- Temporarily pause other security software or ad blockers.
- Quit the NordVPN app completely and then relaunch it.
- Disable pop-up blocking for nordaccount.com - to do that, click the site information button to the left of the URL and open “Site settings.”
- Check your device’s settings to see if automatic time syncing is enabled. If it’s not, allow automatic syncing.
- Enable cookies for nordaccount.com.
- Try signing up using alternative methods, such as a Google or Apple account.
- Reinstall the NordVPN app — uninstall the version you’re using now and download the newest version.
- Change your device’s DNS servers to NordVPN.
Additional tips
- Wait at least 10 minutes before trying to sign up again.
- Make sure your device has a stable and active internet connection.
- If you are using an iOS device, make sure that the system has not hidden the NordVPN app.
- Check if the issue occurs on other devices connected to the same network. If it does, try switching to a different network.
