Problem
When buying NordVPN or renewing a subscription, you notice a price different from what you expected.
Common reasons for price differences
- The renewal price is different. You must know that at the end of your initial plan, your subscription will be renewed automatically, and you will be charged the applicable renewal price for the service. You can find more information on renewal prices on our subscription renewal pricing page.
- You may have accidentally selected a different subscription bundle (e.g., the "Complete" plan, which includes NordPass and NordLocker) instead of a basic VPN plan. You can also add an extra service, like a dedicated IP, during checkout.
- The price is different on the NordVPN website. The main reasons for this are:
- Third-party subscriptions. If you purchased NordVPN services from the app stores, such as Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, pricing and taxes on these platforms may differ slightly from a direct NordVPN web purchase.
- Currency conversion fees. Our prices are typically set in a primary currency like USD or EUR. If you pay with a card in a different local currency, your bank or payment provider will perform a currency conversion. The final amount can differ from the estimate due to fluctuating exchange rates and potential foreign transaction fees applied by your bank, which are outside of NordVPN's control.
- You were charged twice.
- Taxes (VAT/Sales Tax). Taxes are applied during the checkout process based on your country. You’ll see the total price, including VAT, in your order summary before completing your purchase.
- If you used a coupon code, it may have expired, been entered incorrectly, or not be eligible for your chosen plan, resulting in the standard price being charged.
NOTE: The checkout screen will show it if it wasn’t applied.
