Introduction
This guide will show you how to switch from the NordVPN macOS app downloaded from the App Store to the NordVPN application downloaded from our website to use next-gen antivirus on Real-time protection (formerly Scam, phishing, and malware protection). The Basic NordVPN subscription is enough to use the NordVPN sideloaded app and access next-gen antivirus (formerly Scam, phishing, and malware protection).
Prerequisites
- Make sure you have a NordVPN plan that includes next-gen antivirus (formerly Scam, phishing, and malware protection).
Here's what to do
- Open the Finder app - the happy face icon should be in the Dock at the bottom of your screen.
- On the left, find the “Applications” folder, and click on it.
- Right-click the NordVPN app icon and select the “Move to Bin” option.
NOTE: You can also empty the Bin to uninstall NordVPN fully, but emptying the trash doesn't need to be done to reinstall NordVPN, especially if you have any files in the trash bin you might want to keep. - Restart your computer.
- Install NordVPN from our website.
