Problem
You can't connect to your dedicated IP server through NordVPN’s Android TV app.
Common symptoms
- The NordVPN app is stuck on the “Connecting” status.
- You get a “It’s taking longer than usual” notification.
Troubleshooting steps
NOTE: Due to reduced service accessibility, you may have trouble getting your dedicated IP to work when connecting from countries with internet restrictions.
- Check your inbox for an email about temporary dedicated IP server maintenance.
- See if you can connect to regular NordVPN servers by clicking “Secure my connection.”
- Change the VPN protocol:
- Open the NordVPN app, scroll down to the cogwheel icon, and select it to access the settings.
- Select “Protocol.”
- Try connecting with all available protocols, except NordWhisper.
- Alternate the internet connection types, for example, if you used Ethernet, try Wi-Fi.
-
Reset your network settings:
NOTE: This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, and VPN or APN settings you’ve used before.
- Open up “Settings” on your device.
- Scroll down to “Network and Internet” and make sure the Wi-Fi toggle is on.
- Select “Wi-Fi” and then select “Forget Network.”
-
Restart your device and reconnect to the network.
-
Reinstall the application:
- Open up “Settings” on your device.
- Select “Applications.”
- Select “Manage Installed Applications.”
- Find NordVPN and select “Uninstall.”
- After it uninstalls, restart your Android box and download NordVPN from the Google Store or the Amazon Store if you have a FireTV device.
