Introduction
Learn how to set up a NordVPN Dedicated IP server manually by downloading your OpenVPN (UDP/TCP) or WireGuard® (NordLynx) configuration files from Nord Account. A manual connection is useful when the NordVPN app isn't functioning properly on your device.
Before you start
- An active NordVPN subscription with a VPN service and Dedicated IP add-on.
- Access to your Nord Account login credentials.
- Decide which configuration you need:
- OpenVPN (UDP/TCP) - broadest compatibility across platforms and third-party clients.
- WireGuard® - modern protocol, typically faster, used with WireGuard-compatible clients.
Here's what to do
Download your Dedicated IP configuration file
These steps are the same for both OpenVPN and WireGuard® until you choose your file format.
- Go to Nord Account and log in.
- Go to the Dedicated IP tab on the left.

Click Download configuration file.
Choose your configuration format
From here, follow the path for the protocol you want.
OpenVPN (UDP/TCP)
- In the "Select a preferred protocol to continue your setup," select UDP or TCP.
- Click Download.
WireGuard®
- In the "Select a preferred protocol to continue your setup," select WireGuard® as the configuration type.
- Click Download.
Once you complete these steps, the configuration file for your Dedicated IP server will be downloaded to your specified folder. After that, you can proceed with setting up the Dedicated IP server manually.
Set up the Dedicated IP server manually
Use the configuration file you downloaded from the Dedicated IP dashboard, then follow the service credentials setup in the guide for your platform.
