NordVPN and Vuze is a great combination, with or without setting up a proxy. In fact, NordVPN works on most peer-to-peer platforms.
However, there may be cases where you just can’t use the NordVPN app. Here’s how to connect to NordVPN servers via a proxy to use Vuze securely.

How to set up NordVPN with Vuze
- Open Vuze.
- In the menu bar, click Tools > Options. Alternatively, press Ctrl +, on your keyboard.
- In the Mode section, select Advanced.
- Open the Connection section.
- Under Peer sources, make sure only From a tracker is selected.
- Under Networks, make sure only Public IP network is selected.
- Expand the Connection section by double-clicking it or by clicking the dropdown arrow.
- Head to the Proxy section.
- Under Tracker communications, select the Enable proxying of tracker communications [restart required] and I have a SOCKS proxy checkboxes.
- Enter the following information:

Host: Address of a selected proxy server.

You can find your NordVPN service credentials (service username and service password) in the Nord Account dashboard:- Click Set up NordVPN manually.
- You will receive a verification code in your email that you use for NordVPN services. Type the code in:
- Copy the credentials using the “Copy” buttons on the right:
- Click Set up NordVPN manually.

How to check if your proxy setup is working
- Click Test SOCKS.
- A Testing SOCKS connection window will appear. If the connection was successful, you should see the following result: Connection OK - supported version(s): 5.
- Click OK to close the testing window and Save to save your SOCKS5 configuration.
- Close the Options menu and restart Vuze.
Upon restarting, you should see a green indicator with SOCKS written next to it in the status bar. This indicator shows that the SOCKS5 connection is working properly.
