NordVPN PASSWORD: Verification Failed: 'Auth'

Authentication or 'auth' failures on Windows happen for several reasons, either relating to the password itself or the device count you have been connected to.

 

Resolving the issue

If you are getting a verification failed error, follow the steps below:

  1. Log out, and log back in. Check if the issue persists.
  2. Make sure that you are not connecting more than 10 devices simultaneously.

 

Reset your password

If the issue continues, we recommend that you change your password.

  1. Log out of the NordVPN application.
  2. Reset your password.

 

Reinstall the application

If the previous steps did not help, reinstalling the application should resolve your issue:

  1. Go to the control panel:

    Group 1 (34).png

  2. Select uninstall a program:

    Group 2 (26).png

  3. Delete NordVPN, NordVPN network TAP, and NordVPN network TUN instances if they appear on the list.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Download the NordVPN app
  6. Follow the setup steps: Windows 10/11, Windows 7/8.1
