Introduction
In this article, you will learn how to use NordVPN with your Meta Quest VR headset and how to cast Meta Quest gameplay to a TV or phone.
Before you start
- For casting, connect the Meta Quest and the target device (TV or phone) to the same Wi-Fi network.
Here's what to do
Set up NordVPN on the headset
- Download and install the NordVPN app on your Meta Quest.
- Connect to a server.
- Because the VPN runs on the headset itself, it protects all Meta Quest traffic without needing a router or a shared connection.
Cast the Meta Quest to a TV or phone
- Confirm that the Meta Quest and the casting target use the same Wi-Fi network - this is the most common cause of casting failures.
- From the headset, open Share > Cast, select the target device, and confirm.
- Alternatively, cast from the Meta Quest phone app: open the app, tap Cast, and choose the target.
VPN connection blocking your casting?
Because your Meta Quest runs the NordVPN Android app, enable local network discovery so the VPN lets your headset and TV see each other:
- Open the NordVPN app on your Meta Quest and tap the Profile menu (bottom-right corner).
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Local network discovery.
- Enable the setting.
- Try casting again.
Additional tips
- If casting still doesn't work, the VPN may be preventing your headset and TV or phone from seeing each other on the local network. Cast from the Meta Quest phone app instead, or briefly disconnect the VPN while you start the cast.
