Introduction
This article will show you how to enable and configure the NordVPN auto-connect feature on the app.
Requirements
Ensure you have installed the NordVPN app and turned off any additional VPN applications.
Here’s what to do
NOTE: The NordVPN tvOS app cannot configure “Auto-connect” functionality.
- Open the NordVPN app and navigate to the settings:
- On Windows, Linux, Android TV, and the NordVPN browser extensions, click the cogwheel icon.
- On mobile devices, tap the profile icon.
- Find the “Auto-connect” settings:
- On Windows devices, click “Connection and security.”
- On the NordVPN browser extensions and the Linux GUI app, click on “Connection” and then “Auto-connect.”
- On macOS, Android, and Android TV, click “Auto-connect.”
- On iOS devices, after you tap on the profile icon, you will need to tap on the “Settings” button on the top right, and then you will see the “Auto-connect” settings.
- Enable the toggle for “Auto-connect.”
NOTE: If you set up the network you are currently in to be a trusted network in the NordVPN application, auto-connect will not work on it.
NOTE: For the Linux CLI app, you would need to write this command:
nordvpn set autoconnect on
Additional steps
- If you want to auto-connect only to Wi-Fi networks or on mobile data, in the “Auto-connect” menu, select “Wi-Fi networks” or “Mobile networks/ Ethernet.”
- To configure the exact servers you would like to connect to, click “Recommended country” and select the country or specialty servers you prefer.
