Problem
You encounter a problem during the NordVPN mobile app installation or update process.
Common symptoms
- The installation does not start.
- You encounter an error message like “Installation failed” or “Something went wrong” during installation.
- The installation starts but never finishes.
- The update starts but fails to overwrite the existing version.
Troubleshooting steps
NOTE: Check if the issue has been resolved after each step.
- Check if your operating system supports the NordVPN app.
- Check if there are any updates for your mobile device’s operating system.
- Android:
- Open the “Settings” app.
- Scroll down and tap “System” or “About phone.”
- Tap “System update” or “Software update.”
- If an update is available, tap “Download and install.”
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
- iOS:
- Open the “Settings” app.
- Tap “General.”
- Tap “Software Update.”
- If an update is available, tap “Download and Install.”
- Enter your passcode if prompted
- Follow the instructions to complete the update.
- Android:
- If you’ve downloaded the NordVPN app to your Android device from the Google Play Store, try installing the version from our website instead.
- If you’ve downloaded the NordVPN app to your Android device from our website, try installing it from the Google Play Store.
- Temporarily turn off or uninstall your antivirus to see if it is blocking or interfering with the NordVPN app.
- Reinstall the NordVPN app:
- Android:
- Open “Settings” on your device.
- Tap “Apps.”
- Tap “NordVPN.”
- Tap the trash bin at the bottom of your screen.
- After uninstalling NordVPN, restart your phone.
- Click this link and tap “Get APK version” to install NordVPN.
- iOS:
- Locate the NordVPN app on your home screen.
- Tap and hold the NordVPN app icon until a menu appears or the icons start jiggling.
- Tap “Remove App” and select “Delete App” to confirm.
- Restart your phone.
- Install NordVPN from the App Store again.
- Android:
