I can't launch the NordVPN app, or it crashes on tvOS

Problem

You experience frequent crashes when trying to launch or use the NordVPN tvOS app. 

Common symptoms

  • The NordVPN app refuses to launch.
  • The NordVPN app launches, but shuts down immediately.
  • Your screen freezes or becomes unresponsive when launching the NordVPN app.
  • You see a blank or black screen upon launching the NordVPN app.
  • The NordVPN app fails to load beyond the initial logo or loading screen.
  • The NordVPN app launches but crashes frequently (especially when connecting to a server).

Troubleshooting steps

NOTE: Check if the issue has been resolved after each step.

  • Check the App Store for any available NordVPN app updates.
  • See for outstanding tvOS updates (NordVPN is supported on tvOS from tvOS 17):
     
    1. Open the “Settings” app.
    2. Go to “System.”
    3. Go to “Software updates.”
    4. Select “Update software.”
    5. If an update is available, select “Download” and “Install.”
       
  • Restart your device.
  • Restart the app.
  • Reinstall the NordVPN app:
     
    1. Find the NordVPN app on the home screen of your tvOS device.
    2. Press and hold the clickpad (or the touch surface) of your remote.
    3. Select “Delete app” and confirm your choice.
    4. Install the NordVPN app again from the Apple App Store.
