Problem
The NordVPN app is causing performance issues on your Linux device.
Common symptoms
- Your computer slows down when NordVPN is on.
- The installed resource manager shows NordVPN using more than 50% of RAM or CPU.
Troubleshooting steps
- Restart your computer.
- Temporarily turn off Threat Protection to see if it's causing issues:
- Click the “Settings” button on the left side of the application.
- Click “Threat Protection.”
- Click the blue button if it is turned on.
- Reset the application settings:
- Open the Linux terminal by pressing the “CTRL,” “ALT,” and “T” keys together.
- Write these commands:
sudo rm /var/lib/nordvpn/data/settings.dat sudo rm -rf ~/.config/nordvpn
- Log back into the NordVPN application.
Additional tips
- Check if the issue occurs on other devices connected to the same network. If it does, try switching to a different network.
