I keep getting logged out on macOS

Problem

You are often unexpectedly logged out of the macOS NordVPN application.

Common symptoms

  • While using the NordVPN application, you frequently get logged out.
  • You get logged out immediately after logging in to NordVPN.

Troubleshooting steps

  • Change the default browser of your device:

    1. Click the Apple icon at the top right.
    2. Click “System Settings.” 
    3. Click "Desktop & Dock.”
    4. Scroll down to "Default web browser" and choose the browser you want. 

  • If you have an antivirus, ensure NordVPN is on the exclusions list.
  • Delete and reinstall NordVPN using the version downloaded from our website:

    1. Open the Finder app by clicking the happy face icon in the dock at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Click the “Applications” folder on the left.  
    3. Right-click the NordVPN app icon and select the “Move to Bin option.
      NOTE: You don’t need to empty the bin to reinstall NordVPN, especially if you have other files there you might want to keep.
    4. Restart your computer.
    5. Install NordVPN from our website.

Additional tips

  • Make sure your device has a stable and active internet connection.
  • Wait a few minutes before trying to log in again.
  • Check if the issue occurs on other devices connected to the same network. If it does, try switching to a different network.
