macOS Error: Login failed

Problem

You're unable to register or log in to the NordVPN macOS app.
 

Common symptoms

  • You get a "We couldn't log you in" error.


     
  • You get a “We couldn't sign you up” error.
     

Troubleshooting steps

  • Ensure that you're connected to the internet on your macOS device:
    • Disable any other active VPN connections.
    • Try a different network.
  • Force quit and reboot the NordVPN app:
    1. Press Option + Command + Esc and force quit the NordVPN application.
    2. Open Apps and open the "Keychain Access" application.
    3. Select the "login" entry in the keychain (top left corner of the window).
    4. Right-clickon the "login" keychain and chooseLock Keychain "login".
    5. Now try unlockingit again.
      NOTE: You might need to enter your Mac login password.
       
    6. Relaunch the NordVPN application and try logging in again.
       
  • If you cannot unlock the keychain by following the previous steps, try doing that over the terminal:
    1. Open Apps and type "Terminal" in a search field.
    2. After opening the terminal, enter the following command:

      security lock-keychain
       
    3. Unlock the keychain using this command:

      security unlock-keychain
       
    4. Enter your macOS password and press the return button.
    5. Try logging in again.
