How to find various server configuration files for NordVPN

Introduction

In this article, you will learn how to find the best server recommendation for your connection and how to download the server configuration files you need for manual setup. Whether you are looking for OpenVPN configuration files or WireGuard® (NordLynx) configuration files, this guide covers where to find and download them from your Nord Account.

Here's what to do

Find the best server recommendation

Log in to your Nord Account and click NordVPN.
Scroll down to Advanced Settings and click Set up NordVPN manually.
Select the Server recommendation tab. According to your location, the best server will be recommended.
By pressing Advanced filters you can further customize the recommended servers by selecting the Server type.

NOTE: The Verified badge indicates the server has been upgraded and is ready for use. When choosing a server for manual setup, select one with this badge.

Download OpenVPN configuration files

In case you wish to select an OpenVPN server, follow these steps:

Under Set up NordVPN manually, select OpenVPN configuration files.
Find the server you wish to connect to by using the Search bar or by scrolling down, and download it by clicking Download configuration.
Choose the preferred OpenVPN configuration type to download: Download UDP or Download TCP.

Download WireGuard® configuration files

To set up a specific server using the WireGuard® protocol, follow these steps:

Under Set up NordVPN manually, select Server recommendation.

Find the server you wish to connect to by using the Search bar or use the Recommended server suggestions.
After choosing the server, click on the Get setup configuration option
In a dropdown menu, select WireGuard®, then click Download config.
